The Antelope County News, based in Neligh, is now taking applications for a reporter/graphic designer. This successful candidate will spend several weeks training with the individual he/she will be replacing.

The ACN is a fast-paced media with an online daily philosophy and weekly print schedule. It was named the top digital weekly newspaper in 2019 — the first year the award was given out — and has won the top weekly newspaper award for the last two years. The ACN is also the fastest growing community weekly newspaper in Nebraska and is the largest publication in Antelope County.

The successful candidate must be a team player, who enjoys a fast-paced learning environment; be able to drive and work occassional nights and weekends; and be organized and a self-starter who can problem solve.

As the most-read online news source in the area, there is an immediate opening in our Knox & Antelope County, Nebraska area to cover local news in digital and print. Use of social media is a large part of our coverage philosophy as well.

This individual will cover hard news, features, sports and education. This will include photography and video opportunities with training to include production of video for online, should the right candidate show the skill and desire to learn.

The paginator / reporter will use Adobe Creative Suite to design and deliver sharp, clean pages for print publications quickly and efficiently, write clever headlines and cutlines that capture the stories and hook readers and proof all stories and items on the pages. This candidate must be a stickler for details, especially for accuracy and legality, and will be ultimately responsible for completion of the online and print publication of each story. The paginator / reporter will also maintain the local community and sports beat with stories and photos, as well as other reporting assignments given by the publisher and/or editor.

This position also has an opportunity to make commission on advertising sales. The successful candidate must be organized and work well with a team, as well as in the community. This individual will split their time between Neligh and Bloomfield locations.
