Three Are Critical After Accident Southwest Of Brunswick

The Antelope County Sheriff’s Department has released information on an accident southwest of Brunswick on Sunday night that injured four Pierce County juveniles - three critically.

According to the Antelope County Sheriff’s office, the accident occurred at 6:54 p.m. one mile southwest of Brunswick - south of the intersection of 526 Ave and 863 road.

Three of the four occupants of a 1996 Chevy Suburban, owned by Jeffrey and Tamra Schaefer of Osmond, were ejected from the vehicle, which was northbound on 526 Ave when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the SUV to roll multiple times and land in the east ditch, according to the sheriff’s office. The fourth occupant was extricated from the vehicle.

One occupant was air lifted from the scene in critical condition, and three occupants were transported to Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh. Two juveniles were later air lifted to Omaha and Sioux City trauma centers in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office. The fourth juvenile was in stable condition and remained at AMH in Neligh.

Seatbelts were not in use by the juveniles, according to officials, and air bags did not deploy.

The accident remains under investigation.

Responding to the accident were the Antelope County Sheriff’s Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Brunswick Fire Department, Neligh Rescue, Midwest Medical Ambulance,  Midwest MedAir, Neigh-Oakdale Jaw of Life, Life Net and Mercy Air Assist.
