Severe Weather Outbreak Possible Sunday Throughout Area

Much of Northeast Nebraska, including Antelope County, may see severe weather Sunday, including hail, wind and tornadoes. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), significant severe weather is forecast for the central United States on Sunday where very large hail, damaging winds and strong tornadoes are possible. The threat will shift eastward on Monday. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop in Antelope County, mainly between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, according to the NWS. Some storms could be severe, and rainfall is expected to be between a quarter and half of an inch. Sunday night there is a chance of thunderstorms before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 a.m. Again, some of the storms could be severe. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent with new rainfall amounts less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
