Elaine Marie Scheer, 74, passed at home on August 2, 2018. She was born on August 14, 1943 at Dodge City, the daughter of Bud and Elsie (Naylor) Stotler.
Elaine was born and raised in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School, where she was active in Orchestra and Tennis. On August 25, 1961 she married Neal L. Scheer at Dodge City. They lived all their lives in Southwest Kansas where they owned and operated a custom hay service. She was a golfer, played softball, bowling, hunting and fishing and was an avid KC Royals and KC Chiefs fan. Elaine also enjoyed music and played the piano, organ and accordion. Her love of music was passed on to her grandchildren and she enjoyed listening to them play, attending concerts, competitions, and other activities they were involved in. She was active in the First Church of God of Dodge City and Cimarron Golf Club of Cimarron. Elaine is survived by her husband of 56 years, Neal Scheer of Ingalls; two daughters, Kristi Baudin and husband Kenny of Louisiana and Cindy Colle and husband John of Hutchinson; a son, Darin and wife Mary Alice of Topeka; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Stotler of San Benito, Texas and Carol Turner of Greensburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Parker Stotler. Celebration of life will be held at the First Church of God on Saturday August 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Darrell Hendrickson presiding. Private family interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Book Signing will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday August 10, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Gailen Neil Beutler was born at Orchard, NE on Nov. 19, 1942 to Edward and Verna Beutler. He attended country school to the 8th grade and graduated from Orchard High School in 1960. After graduation he attended Milford Trade School for mechanics and worked for Marvin Haswell at East Side Auto in Orchard for many years. He also farmed with his father and raised cattle with a farm dog as a side kick and cattle guard. For a few years he enjoyed attending square dances at various area towns. Gailen was a former member of the O'Neill National Guard. After a stroke in 2012 which left him unable to care for himself, he called O'Neill Care and Rehab. Center home. He is survived by Marlene Strope, Sue Sorenson, Janet Francis and their spouses, many friends and distant relatives. He was preceeded in death by his parents and grandparents. Funeral services for Glenda L. Hauf age 81 of Pilger, NE will be on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE with Pastor Deb Hammer, PMA officiating. Glenda (Robertson) Hauf was born on April 20, 1937 in Orchard, NE to Glenn Robertson and Minnie Schwagers. Glenda grew up in Orchard, NE and graduated from Orchard High School in 1956. On May 18, 1956, Glenda was united in marriage to Don Hauf at the courthouse in Neligh, NE. They moved to Salina, KS, where Don was stationed in the Air Force and Glenda worked at Swift and Co. In May of 1962, they moved to Pilger, NE. While living in Pilger, Glenda worked for the Pilger School in the Hot Lunch Program. She also worked for the Pilger Bar and Café for 45 years only missing one day due to sickness and she worked for 8 different owners. Glenda joined St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pilger. She was baptized on April 8, 1956 at the First Christian Church in Neligh, NE. She was a current member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was also a faithful member of its Ladies Aid. Glenda enjoyed Dominos, sewing, gardening, walking, baking for others, and crocheting afghans. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who meant a lot to her. Robert Walter Pokorny was born on October 22, 1965 in Atkinson, NE to Donald and Arlis (Edwards) Pokorny. He graduated from West Holt High School in Atkinson with the Class of 1984. He was united in marriage to Jayne Bykerk on June 12, 1992 in Burwell, NE. They lived in the Amelia area, then moved to Clearwater in 1998. Bob raised cattle, ran a custom calving operation, and worked at Thiele Dairy when he wasn't busy with ranch work. He put family first and cheered his four children on at many activities and sporting events through the years. Bob loved taking trips to the mountains with his family. Horses were always a big part of his life and he passed this love on to his children. He was quick to greet friends and neighbors and never lacked for stories and jokes. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Clearwater. Survived by his wife, Jayne of Clearwater. Nadeen died Friday, June 29, 2018, at Mountain Park Senior Living in Phoenix. Nadeen Faye Eymann, daughter of William and Myrtle Good, was born May 25, 1926, at Neligh, Nebraska. She attended Neligh High School. On January 5, 1946, Nadeen was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Eymann at Oakdale, Nebraska. They were blessed with two children, Steven and Barbara. Nadeen was a loving wife and mother. In addition to living in the Oakdale area when she was young, Nadeen also lived in Columbus, Nebraska and Phoenix, Arizona. She was employed at Becton-Dickinson for many years. Nadeen was a member of Dayspring Methodist Church. Nadeen is survived by her children, Steven (Deb) Eymann and Brett of Phoenix, Arizona and Barbara (Dave) Mohrman of Elkhorn, Nebraska; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Dolores Marie Bauer, the second child of Phillip and Mildred (Hupp) Pelster, was born August 12, 1950 at Norfolk, NE. She attended grade school at Wheeler County School District #3 and grew up on the ranch west of Elgin, NE. She went to school at St. Boniface School and was a member of the first graduating class of Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in 1968. She went to Bergan Mercy School of Radiologic Technology in Omaha, NE and following graduation in 1970, she worked at Bergan Mercy Hospital. On January 8, 1972, Dodi married Donald S. Bauer at St. Boniface Church in Elgin. They made their home on a farm northwest of Elgin, NE and later on a farm near Oakdale, NE. Along with raising their four children, Dodi worked as a radiologic technologist at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh and Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Dodi was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and St. Francis Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking. Her famous apple pies will always be remembered, but never duplicated. Most of all, she loved her family, spending much of her free time with her children and grandchildren. Dodi is survived by her husband Don of Oakdale; four children: Terry (Mary) Bauer of Elgin; Krista (Robert) Demo of Fennimore, WI; Lori (James) Saville of Omaha; Scott (Keli) Bauer of Phillips; 13 grandchildren: Trenton, Heather, Austin and Natalie Bauer, Corbin and Brogan Demo, Landon, Colson and Gavin Saville, Anna, Ava, Stella and Maxton Bauer; nine siblings: JoAnn (Jim) Penne of Oakdale; Bonnie (Gary) Dinslage of Elgin; Phyllis (Dennis) Cleveland of Plainview; Bob (Janice) Pelster of Bartlett; Denny (Judy) Pelster of Burwell; Jeanine (Kurt) Saner of Dunning; Jeanette (Dave) Henn of Elgin; Marcia (Bob) Redler of Milford; Ginni (Bill) Fangman of Raeville; along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Neta Lee passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Fatih Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE. Neta Lee Jones was born on July 16, 1937 to Fred and Evalena (Jefferies) Maben in Omaha, NE. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in O'Neill with the Class of 1954. After graduation she began her teaching career. On March 29, 1959 she was united in marriage to Jack Jones in Albion, NE. She went on to get her Teaching Degree from Wayne State College. Through the years she taught at several schools in the area. Jack and Neta Lee farmed southwest of Clearwater, where they raised their children. Neta Lee enjoyed reading, playing cards, golfing, and going to Jammin' at the Neligh Senior Center. She served on the Clearwater Public School Board and was a member of the Clearwater United Methodist Church where she would often play the organ. She is survived by her husband, Jack Jones of Elgin, NE. Three children and five grandchildren: Rocky and Judy Jones of Geneva, NE, their children Thomas and Kati Jones, Connie Jones and fiance Cam Knopik, and Macy Jones.
