2020 Breaking News - Massive Grass Fire

With winds gusting at nearly 40 mph, dry conditions led to a massive grass fire between Neligh and Oakdale. Thousands of residents were without power in multiple communities due to the blaze, which was contained to pastures and fields.  No structures were damaged, though it did get close. Due to the proximity and wind, our coverage was limited due to safety concerns. We tried several angles for coverage and sent another reporter to the airport to get photos of an airplane fueling as it prepared to help with aerial support. The fire sparked overnight, and our staff returned to the scene, along with the local fire departments.
