A Winter Weather Advisory continues Tuesday until 6 p.m., and highways throughout Antelope County are partially covered with ice. The Nebraska Department of Transportation cautions that bridge may be slick.
Several schools have either called off school or will be having late starts due to conditions. Elgin and St. Boniface will not have school while Elkhorn Valley, Orchard and Clearwater will have late starts today. Orchard and Clearwater Public School will have a 10 a.m. late start Tuesday due to the weather. Buses will run accordingly.
No preschool at Clearwater. Are you ready for another storm? The National Weather Service is reporting 2-3 inches of snow will fall tonight after freezing drizzle leaves dangerous conditions first.
A Winter Weather Advisory begins at 6 p.m. tonight and will last through 6 p.m. Tuesday. Winds will gust as high as 40 mph on Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the teens. Travel difficulties are expected due to this storm. Orchard and Clearwater Public Schools will dismiss at 2 p.m. on Friday due to the weather. There will be no after school activities.
The OC Cyclones' basketball games at Osmond on Friday will now be Saturday. There will be varsity only - boys at 6:15 p.m. with girls following. Deteriorating weather conditions are causing some changes at Neligh-Oakdale today.
Neligh-Oakdale is dismissing school at 11:43 a.m. today (West Ward 11:30 a.m.) due to road conditions, and lunch will not be served. Tonight’s basketball games are postponed. There is no rescheduled date yet. Tomorrow’s wrestling tournament is still on as of now. The Nebraska Department of Transportation is reporting all highways in Antelope County as completely covered with ice. Use caution while driving.

Locally higher amounts of snow are possible, according to the National Weather Service. Freezing drizzle is expected to precede the snow in some areas with a light glaze of ice possible. The potential for ice is mainly along and south of a line from Neligh to Tekamaha and Harlan. Travel may be difficult. Expect slippery roads and limited visibility. The cold winds could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Motorists are advised to stay off highways since all roadways in Antelope and Knox counties remain completely snow covered.
According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, Highway 275 is completely snow covered from Newport east to the Battle Creek spur. Highway 14 is also completely snow covered from Niobrara south to Petersburg. Highway 12 from near Mills eat to Ponca is completely covered, as is Highways 121, 59 and 84. Winds will gust up to 40 mph throughout much of Friday. Wind will drop to 15 mph with gusts of 20 mph around 5 p.m. with the wind chill remaining around -9 all day. Saturday will be sunny with temperatures topping at 27. The Nebraska Department of Transportation has pulled off of its plows off the highways until Friday morning. Officials said crews will return to the roads at 4:30 a.m. in both Antelope and Knox counties.
