The weather may be chilly now, but the Antelope County Fair is ready to heat things up with their summer concert.
The fair board has announced Aaron Watson as the headliner for the 2018 Antelope County Fair. Watson will hit the stage on Friday, August 3 at 8 p.m.
The 39-year-old Watson, a West Texas native who has spent 17 years in the country music industry, performing more than 2,500 shows, is in the midst of the success of his latest album, Vaquero. The album includes his current single “Outta Style,” as well as songs such as “Take You Home Tonight” and “They Don’t Make Em Like They Used To.”
“This is the first album I’ve ever made where if it’s the last album I ever make, I could be content with that,” Watson says of Vaquero.
Vaquero is the follow up to his 2015 album The Underdog, an acclaimed collection that made history. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. It was the first time an independent, male country artist had ever outsold majors to premiere at the top spot.
A humble man at heart, Watson is excited about every show he plays, no matter where it may be.
“It doesn’t really matter whether I’m playing a dancehall in Texas or a stadium tour around the world, I’m just me,” he says. “I won’t change. I’m just too rooted in what I believe in. When you’ve played for such a long time to nobody, now that there’s somebody, you really don’t take that for granted.”
Along with Watson, fair goers can enjoy another night of bull-riding action on Thursday, August 2 as Double S Bulls return with their high-energy Extreme Bull Riding show. Additional events are set to be announced in the future.
