Tilden New Year’s Celebration Features No Alcohol

As plans go from Christmas to New Year’s Eve parties, one local police officer is planning an event designed to keep people safe this year.

Officer Terry James of Tilden is planning an annual New Year’s Eve celebration at the Tilden Library this Saturday. The event will feature most of the trappings normally associated with end of the year bashes…music, food and fellowship.

But the one New Year’s tradition the night won’t have is alcohol.

“I’m in law enforcement, and I guess I’ve covered too many accidents involving alcohol,” James said. “In this one there is no alcohol so anyone that wants to drink alcohol won’t get any there.”

James has been organizing the event for 15 years. He says Saturday’s event will run from 7:30 p.m. to just after midnight.
