Local Families Mourn After Great-Niece Dies In School Shooting

A tragic school shooting in Texas this morning has left an Antelope County family in mourning. 

Tim and Kandi Hart of Tilden confirmed evening Friday that their great niece, Kimberly Jessica Vaughan, was one of the 10 victims of the Sante Fe, Texas, school shooting.  She was also the niece of Phil and Karen Hart of Neligh and Mike and Jane Hart of Tilden.

Kimberly's family in Texas released her information earlier this evening.

"As many of you know, our great-niece Kimberly was in the first period art class in the Sante Fe, Tx High school where the school shooting happened this morning. Her mother, Rhonda, searched for many hours for any information to find Kimberly," Kandi Hart said. "Earlier this evening we were notified that Kimberly had been shot and killed in that shooting. We are asking that you keep all of us, especially Rhonda and her son in your prayers. Kim is now in heaven with her Lord. These school shootings are extremely difficult, but so much more when it involves someone in your family. Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes this afternoon it truly helps.

Both Tim and Kandi work closely with the Antelope County News as photography correspondents, and the ACN offers sympathy to the entire Hart family.
