Tilden 4-Hers Recognized For Next Chapter At Nebraska

Trevin Hanson and Ashleigh Nelson, attended a statewide reception recognizing they are a part of the Next Chapter at Nebraska program.

This ceremony was held at UNL and Chancellor Ronnie Green spoke to the students and presented them with certificates stating they are pre-admitted to UNL.

Last year, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln started an exciting program called Next Chapter at Nebraska. As a 4-H member in 8th grade, these individuals have been pre-admitted to UNL if they meet the requirements of staying in 4-H throughout high school and meet high school graduation requirements! Each year a new group of 8th graders will be joining this program.  Next Chapter is a college-readiness program that helps students prepare for and succeed in college by providing the skills needed to reach academic goals.

The Next Chapter at Nebraska program:

• Inspires youth to choose to continue their education after high school.
• Promotes awareness of higher education options.
• Develops college and career readiness skills.
• Helps students pair their interests with career choices.
• Encourages students to explore careers.
• Develops important life skills, including social skills, stress management, self-discipline, self-motivation, and responsibility.
• Is offered to students beginning in 8th grade.
• Requires enrollment in the 4-H program.
