Sierra Rystrom Wins Free Throw State Championship

Sierra Rystrom of Tilden was crowned the Elks Hoop Shoot State Champion earlier this month.

Rystrom, the daughter of Brandon and Jennifer Rystrom, sunk 19 out of 25 free throws at the state contest in York on Feb. 7 to take first place in the 12-13 year-old girls division. 

She will now advance to the Elk's Lodge regional competition in Denver on March 14.

In addition to earning first place in her age division, Rystrom also received the Elk’s Lodge "Presidents Award." This award was presented to the girl who made the most free throws at state, regardless of age division.   

At regionals, Rystrom will compete against girls from Colorado, Kansas and Wyoming. Regional winners will advance to nationals in Springfield, Mass., the home of the Niasmith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
