![]() Elkhorn Valley sophomores Chris Peterson and Noah Rutjens both captured medals on Saturday afternoon at the Class D state wrestling tournament at CenturyLink Center in Omaha. Peterson finished fourth at 170 pounds, and Rutjens was sixth at 152 pounds. Peterson (41-12) lost a tough 7-5 decision to sophomore Gideon Monette of Mullen (36-1), ending the season with a fourth-place medal. Earlier on Saturday, Peterson scored a 5-4 decision over Troy Ebel Scribner-Snyder to advance to the third-place match. In the 152-pound fifth-place match, Jaylon Sturdivant of Maxwell (44-2) defeated Rutjens (27-16) by a 13-5 decision. Earlier on Saturday, Rutjens lost a tight 3-0 decision to Plainview senior Tony Steinkraus in the consolation semifinals.
