Lady Falcons Split Volleyball Action At West Holt Triangular

The Lady Falcons were split in their volleyball action last night at West Holt

"It took us a while to get going and we found ourselves trailing late in the first set 16-21, and we made a run to get the victory," said coach Emily Vaughn.

Despite being behind, the team took the set with a score of 27-25.

"I was excited about the attitude of the girls and not giving up, it took extra points but we did it," said Vaughn,  "We came out really confident and strong in the second set and were able to beat West Holt in two."

The Lady Falcons finished strong in the second set as well with a set score of 25-15.

"A big part of this match was our blocking," Vaughn said, "We were able to put up 9 ace blocks in this match, 4 of them from Sierra Rystrom, who also led the team in kills with 5."

In their second match of the night against Clearwater-Orchard, the team struggled.

According to Vaughn, "The Lady Falcons were looking to carry the momentum from the first match into the second match, but struggling with serve receive early on. The Cyclones took advantage of that and put 8 or 9 points up on the board rather quickly."

Final scores for the sets were 14-25 and 15-25.

"I give credit to O-C, the looked really impressive tonight, they are good athletes, and the didn't make too many mistakes," Vaughn said, "On the other hand, I wished we could have competed a little better against them, but  that's the way it goes sometimes, we will learn from this and use it to improve our game"  

This will leave the team with a season record of  13-7. Up next, the Lady Falcons will host O'Neill on Monday.
