Just Eight Points Decide Elkhorn Valley/Plainview Match

What will go down as a three-set sweep for Plainview was much different in reality - as just eight points separated the Pirates and Falcons on Tuesday night in volleyball.

Class C2 Plainview (4-5) defeated D1's Elkhorn Valley 26-24, 25-22, 25-22 in a match that could have went either way. 

"The Lady Falcons had their chances to close out a set or two in a close battle at Plainview.  If one or two more bounces would have gone our way, it would not have ended in a 3-set victory for the Lady Pirates," said Elkhorn Valley coach Emily Vaughn.

"The Lady Falcons started off both the first and second sets making big plays and controlling the tempo but went a little stagnant through the middle of each set, which allowed Plainview some momentum," Vaughn added.

The Falcons are now 5-3 on the season and will rest up until this weekend's Scribner-Snyder tournament.
