Falcons Record First Win Of Season At Homecoming Game

Kendall Albin recovered a first-quarter fumble in the end zone for a touchdown as Elkhorn Valley dominated Winside 44-22 during their homecoming game Friday night. 

Elkhorn Valley capped its homecoming week with its first win of the season on the gridiron. 

The Falcons defeated Winside 44-22 after shutting out the Wildcats the entire first half.

Tyler Rautenberg, who rushed for 110 yards on nine carries, scored three of the first four touchdowns for Elkhorn Valley and forced a safety on the Wildcats' first possession.

Rautenberg scored on a two-yard run and kicked the PAT, ran in another two-yard score and an eight-yard touchdown.

Kendall Albin recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Falcons' second touchdown of the game. Noah Rutjens and Michael Knievel also scored rushing touchdowns for Elkhorn Valley. 

Rutjens and Rautenberg each had nine solo tackles and three assisted for the Falcons defensively. Jayson Larson and Tucker Hecht added seven solo tackles each.

Elkhorn Valley will travel to Grand Island on Friday, Sept. 26, to play Heartland Lutheran (0-3).
