EV TeamMates To Host Tailgate With Tom, Nancy Osborne

Former Husker football player Demoine Adams spoke at Elkhorn Valley last month. He promoted mentoring in the TeamMates program and talked about the benefits of each students having their own personal "coach" or mentor in life.

A Husker coaching legend and TeamMates founder is coming to Tilden this week.

The Elkhorn Valley TeamMates Chapter is hosting a tailgate with Tom and Nancy Osborne on Friday as a mentor-recruiting event. The tailgate event will be held at Richie Ashburn Field in Tilden, beginning at 5:30 p.m. 

At 6:30 p.m., Tom Osborne is scheduled to speak about the mentoring program. An auction will be held at 6:50 p.m. to raise money for the local TeamMates Program. A football, autographed by Osborne, will be auctioned off. The top bidder will win the football and be photographed with Tom Osborne to commemorate the event.

The Elkhorn Valley football game will kick off at 7 p.m. vs. Humphrey St. Francis.

The TeamMates Mentoring program of Elkhorn Valley would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that Kristi Miller has given to the program throughout her 7 years of service as coordinator. Kristi was the driving force behind Elkhorn Valley establishing a mentoring program and recently stepped down as coordinator after accepting a full-time position at Elkhorn Valley School.  

During Kristi’s years as coordinator, the program was recognized for several awards, including The Community of Vision (2010), 24 or More Club (2010, 2013), 30 Something Club (2011, 2012) and the Survey Monkey Club (2013). She was also honored as outstanding coordinator in 2009, the most distinguished recognition for TeamMate's Coordinators.  

Mindy Schaffer is the new coordinator and began her duties in July.
