EV Boys Pick Up First Season Win; Girls Lose Overtime Thriller

The Falcon Basketball teams split action at Ewing last night on the road.

The boys picked up their first win of the season against the Tigers. The Falcons took control of the game early on, leading at halftime 17-9. The Tigers fought back in the final quarter but fell short 38-34.

Six Falcons put points on the board including Tucker Hecht, 9, Julio Sierra, 7, Kalen Dittrich, 7, Koby Smith, 6, Dalton Smutny, 5, and Emilio Sierra, 4. 

The girls had a tough game with Lady Tigers, trailing  by 6 at halftime. The Lady Falcons closed the gap and tied the game at 59-59 pushing the game into overtime. The Falcons dropped the game by two points 69-67.

Three freshmen led the team in points, Hannah Ollendick with 27 and Sierra Rystrom and Amber Miller each with 10 points. Liz Osborn put up 8 points, Brianna Werner scored 7 and Shelby Cakebread had 5 points.

Up next, the teams will be hosting the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars on Friday.
