EPPJ Sweeps Elkhorn Valley Triangular On Thursday Night

Elgin Public/Pope John won the triangular hosted by Elkhorn Valley on Thursday night.

EPPJ and EV faced off in the first game of the night. The Lady Wolfpack won in two straight sets, 25-17 and 25-17. 

Liz Selting and Jenna Parks led EPPJ's hitters, each putting down 7 kills in the match.
 
"It was a tale of two games last night for the Lady Falcons," EV Coach Emily Vaughn said. "Our first game out, we were more intense, competitive and made some big plays because of it. Even though we lost 17-25, 17-25, I felt as if the team really worked hard, and played confident."

The Lady Wolfpack went on to narrowly defeat Chambers/Wheeler Central in two sets, 25-20 and 30-28.  

In the final game of the night, CWC got the best of the Lady Falcons "from start to finish winning 12-25 and 10-25, according to Vaughn.  

"It was very frustrating to see how well we played in the first match, and then turn around and respond with a game like that," she said. "CWC played more aggressively all the way around then we did, and we let them dictate most of the match with their offense."

Elkhorn Valley will travel to Osmond on Tuesday, and EPPJ will host a triangular on Tuesday with St. Mary's and Humphrey St. Francis.
