Elkhorn Valley Unable To Get Going Offensively In Loss

The Elkhorn Valley Falcons can't seem to get their offense going.

A week after coming out flat against Winside, the Falcons were shut out by St. Francis, falling 76-0.

St. Francis scored 66 of their 76 points before halftime, putting Elkhorn Valley into a deep hole early. The Falcons were never able to rebound, despite only allowing 10 points in the second half.

Stepping in at quarterback, Josh McFarland completed a respectable 10 of his 18 throws. However, he threw for just 34 yards and had three interceptions.

Chay Faulkner was the primary target for McFarland, hauling in four catches for 16 yards. Darren Stewart had two catches for five yards while Brock Schaecher and Dillon Stewart each had a catch for nine and seven yards, respectively.

On the ground, McFarland was the only Falcon to have positive rushing yards, running for one yard on ten attempts.

Defensively, Eziquel Pena led the way with 12 total stops for Elkhorn Valley. Faulkner was not far behind, adding nine total tackles of his own. 

One bright spot for the Falcons was on special teams, where Faulkner had an outstanding night punting. On his six punts, he averaged 43.5 yards per punt. He recorded a 54 yard punt for his longest of the night.

The Falcons will look to adjust and improve during their bye week this week before they take on Allen September 16.
