Elkhorn Valley Shows Their Youth In Season-Opening Loss

First-year head coach Brendan Dittmar’s debut with the Elkhorn Valley Falcons did not quite go as planned.

The 15-year defensive coordinator for the Falcons had high hopes for his team as they welcomed the Winside Wildcats to Tilden for a Saturday night special. However, they weren't able to come out on top, losing 38-6.

It was a messy game to start for both sides, with bobbled snaps and miscommunication. Unfortunately for the Falcons, it was the Wildcats that fixed their issues first, eventually jumping out to a 22-0 lead by halftime. They added 16 points in the second half, holding Elkhorn Valley to just six points.

The Falcons played stout defense save for a few plays when the Wildcats were able to get loose. However, penalties, turnovers and miscommunications doomed Elkhorn Valley, as they were unable to move the ball much.

The loss drops the Falcons to 0-1 on the season. They now shift their focus to Friday’s matchup with St. Francis in Humphrey.
