Elkhorn Valley Girls Go 1-1; Boys Drop Weekend Games

The Elkhorn Valley basketball teams were in action over the weekend, traveling to Creighton on Friday and hosting Boyd County Saturday.

​The Lady Falcons went 1-1 on the weekend, picking up a win against Creighton. After being down by two at the half, the team rallied for an 11 point win, 49-38.

Scoring for the Lady Falcons was led by Hannah Ollendick and Ranee Keehn with 11 each.  Sierra Rystrom put up 9 points, Liz Osborn and Amber Miller put up 7, Shelby Cakebread scored 3 and Brianna Werner had 1 point. 

On Saturday, the Lady Falcons faced the Spartans of Boyd County. After leading by 5 at the half, the team fell short for a 10-point loss, 48-38.

Facing stiff competition, the Elkhorn Valley boys dropped both games over the weekend. The Falcons came up short after a tough game against the Bulldogs, losing 71-21. 

 Tucker Hecht led the team in points with 7 followed by Dalton Smutny with 6, Koby Smith, 5, Brayden Effle, 2, and Emilio Sierra, 1.

Against the Boyd County Spartans, the Falcons lost 79-30.  Scoring was led by Kalen Dittrich with 8 points followed by Bayden Effle and Tucker Hecht with 6 each.  Julie Sierra put up 4 points and Emilio Sierra, Dalton Smutny and Koby Smith each scored 2.

​Up next, both teams will be traveling to Clearwater-Orchard on Tuesday to face the Cyclones.
