Chris Petersen Receives Elks Teenager Of The Month Honor

Elkhorn Valley senior Christopher Petersen was recently chosen as the Elks Teenager of the Month.

Chris is the son of Robert and Tonya Petersen of Tilden. 

Petersen is the current president of the FBLA and student council at Elkhorn Valley. Throughout his high school career he has been involved in wrestling, track, football, show choir, jazz band, band, and FBLA. He has also been a member of the National Honor Society and student council for the last two years. 

Nomination letters praise Petersen for being a well-rounded student.

 "(Chris) is an incredible football player, a champion on the wrestling mat, plays musical instruments, and is an All-State vocal music selection," one letter read.

Another letter of recommendation says that Chris is "an outstanding student leader and role model for our younger students. We are fortunate to have him as a student here at EV"

One nominator acknowledged Peterson as a student who "goes above and beyond." 

"He has shown great leadership and volunteers numerous times for FBLA's community service projects," the letter said.

The Elks "Teenager" and/or "Student" Program is designed to recognize outstanding young men and women for achievements in school and community life-fine arts, hobbies, athletics, church, school, club and community service, industry and farming. 

The local Elks Lodges seek out Teenagers and/or Students in both Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools and select an outstanding boy and girl at both levels each month, and then yearly, and with publicity, give them awards for their accomplishments.
