Alert: Tilden Residents Urged To Boil Drinking Water

On Wednesday, Tilden residents were advised to boil their drinking water.

The alert was issued Wednesday and will remain in effect until further notice. 

Residents should bring all water to a boil for at least one minute and cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation. 

According to city officials, an initial water sample detected contamination of fecal coliform or E. Coli bacteria in its distribution system. A second sample indicated coliform only.  

The City of Tilden is continuing to test the water and is working with the Drinking Water Program to identify the source of the problem to return the water system to compliance.
