Wolfpack Stumble In Losses To Humphrey/Holy Family

Thursday night was one to forget for Elgin Public/Pope John basketball fans.

The Wolfpack dropped a pair of games against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family at home. The girls game was a high-scoring affair, with the Bulldogs coming out on top 61-55. H/LHF, used a 17-10 first quarter to jump out to the lead, making it tough for the Wolfpack to mount a comeback all night long.

Three EPPJ girls finished in double figures. Allyson Wemhoff led the way with 18 points. Kaylee Martinsen and Paige Meis each added 12 in the loss.

The boys game was eerily similar, with the Bulldogs jumping out to a lead over the Wolfpack in the first quarter and keeping EPPJ at bay the rest of the way in a 64-48 EPPJ loss.

Shooting was far from the problem for the Wolfpack as they hit 52 percent of their shots, including 11-of-16 from three. Ashton Evans had five of those 3s, finishing the night with 17 points. Hunter Reestman hit 3-of-4 from deep, racking up 12 points. Ashton Krebs also posted 12 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor.
