2017-18 season preview: The new year brings a lot of change for the Elgin Public/Pope John wrestling squad.
Chief among those changes is new coach Trey Rossman, who replaces long time coach Doug Jones as the head man for the Wolfpack wrestlers. He takes over a squad that was unable to send a man to state in 2016-17, but hopes to make waves in the new season.

Rossman will lean on the experience of his three returning grapplers, Logan Henn, Luke Henn and Hayes Miller. The three all had their moments last year and will look to build on them in search of a state bid.

Coach Rossman said, “I have high expectations for this team, and I tell my student-athletes to ‘fall in love with the process, and eventually the process will fall in love with you’. Meaning, that if they ‘buy’ into what we are trying to do with this team, that great results will come, come February.”
