Warriors, Falcons Win Antelope County Track Meet

The Antelope County Meet made its return to Antelope County on Tuesday as Neligh-Oakdale hosted Clearwater-Orchard, Elgin Public/Pope John and Elkhorn Valley for a four-team meet at Warrior Field. 

All four teams had their moments, but it was the Neligh-Oakdale boys and Elkhorn Valley girls coming away with the team titles. The Warriors finished with 191 points in the boys race while the Falcons finished with 155 in the girls race.

Neligh-Oakdale came away with a number of first-place finishes on its way to the title. Grant White, Jayden Arehart, Tyson Belitz, Cade Wilkinson and the 4x100 meter relay team all earned gold on the day.

Coming in second for the boys was Elkhorn Valley, with first-place finishes from Dylan Wilkins, Tyler Miller, Tucker Hecht, Brayden Effle, Austin Miller, the 4x400 meter relay team and the 4x800 meter relay team. 

Clearwater-Orchard took bronze in the boys team standings. Jacob Long was the lone champion for the Cyclones, taking first in the high jump.

EPPJ rounded out the boys in the team standings, with Adam Dreger’s second-place finish in the 3200 meter run leading the way for the Wolfpack. 

Elkhorn Valley took the girls title thanks to champion finishes by Sierra Rystrom, Amber Miller, Hannah Ollendick and Alison Stineman. 

O-C finished as the girls runner-up. Grace Rittscher, Brooklynn Chipps, JoCee Johnston, Kylie Thiele, Allison Kerkman, Alyx Siems and the 4x400 meter relay team all earned gold for the Cyclones. 

Neligh-Oakdale took third on the strength of Alexis Jensen’s first-place finish in the 100 meter dash. 

Elgin Public/Pope John took fourth in the girls race with Lydia Behnk and the 4x800 meter relay team taking top honors.
