Warriors Drop Final Home Game To Cougars

The Neligh-Oakdale boys fell to a hot-shooting Niobrara-Verdigre team in their final game of the regular season on Friday.

The Warriors worked hard early in the game, trading buckets with the Cougars, but Niobrara-Verdigre pulled ahead 26-17 to end the first quarter of play. The Cougars added to their lead as they shot 52 percent from the field and beyond the arc, hitting 13 treys in the matchup. They eventually defeated Neligh-Oakdale on their home court, 68-38.

Cole Belitz led the way for the Warriors with 14 points, 4 assists and 4 steals, followed by Nate Buck with 8 points, Austin Rice, Julien Hearn and Beau Murray 5 each, and Isiac Kurpgeweit 1.

Neligh-Oakdale will play their first-round subdistrict game on Tuesday against Ainsworth. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at O'Neill High School.
