Slow Start Dooms Wolfpack In First Loss Of 2018

A sluggish start by the Elgin Public/Pope John football team cost the Wolfpack in Friday's 46-16 defeat to Chambers/Wheeler Central.

The Renegades claimed a 32-0 lead after the first three quarters of play.

The Wolfpack found the end zone twice in the final stanza, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

EPPJ turned the ball over four times in its first loss of the season.

Hunter Reestman led the Wolfpack with 91 yards of total offense and two rushing touchdowns. Conor Ramold and Kyle Schumacher rushed for 48 yards each.

Elgin Public/Pope John (1-1) travels to Central Valley Thursday at 7 p.m.
