Five Warriors Lock Up Slots At State Track Meet

Neligh-Oakdale is set to take on the field at the state track meet next week in Omaha. 

Five Warriors will hit the meet, with others hoping to make the cut as wildcards. 

The qualifying got off to a quick start as Tyson Belitz became the first Warrior to qualify on the day. He took second in the high jump with a leap of 5-09.

Next up was Jayden Arehart. The sophomore snuck by the competition to take first place in the long jump by just a quarter of an inch.

Grant White also used his leaping ability to lock up a spot, with his coming in the triple jump. The senior took second in the event with a best leap of 42-01.

The next qualification came courtesy of the 100 meter dash. Likely the race of the day, Alex Kerkman was able to edge out the field to lock up a spot with a second place finish.

Rounding out the Neligh-Oakdale qualifiers was Kristen Snodgrass. The lone girl qualifier from N-O, Snodgrass showed her wheels when she took second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.9.

A number of Warriors took third on the day and will await the final entry listing on Friday to see if they qualified as wildcards. White, Bailey Frey, Adysen Boggs, Emma Bixler, Alexis Jensen and Shelby Pitzer all took third place in their respective events and will hope to qualify as wildcards.
