Falcon Wrestlers Dominate On Opening Night

The season couldn't have started much better for the Elkhorn Valley wrestlers on Thursday.

They took part in the HPC Quad, coming away with plenty of victories.

Against Meridian, Elkhorn Valley earned five head-to-head victories. Christian Yaw took home a win at 285 pounds over Zacharia Kerwood, 11-8. Hunter Bennett started his high school career with a 2-0 win at 106 pounds over Lane Barton. Prestin Vondra earned a pin over Sonny Scheets at 138 pounds. Brock Schaecher also got the pin at 170 pounds, topping Wyatt Haverluck. Shawn Klinetobe also pinned his opponent, Micah Noel, at 195 pounds.

Against High Plains, the Falcons again dominated, taking six victories. Dillon Stewart earned a tech fall over Clay Church at 126 pounds. Vondra got another pin, this time over Garrett Sharman. Darren Stewart added a pin as well, topping Jarrett Parsons at 145 pounds. Josh McFarland got a pin of his own at 152 pounds, taking down Hunter Gress. Mitchell Petersen pinned his 160 pound opponent, Jason Whitt. Schaecher rounded out the winners for EV, taking a sudden victory win at 170 pounds over Dylan Soule.
