EPPJ Teams Pick Up Wins To Advance In NVC Tourney

The Wolfpack teams both won in dominating fashion Saturday to advance in the Niobrara Valley Conference Tournament.

The #5 Lady Wolfpack rolled to a 68-22 victory over #12 Niobrara-Verdigre in first round action, and the #12 EPPJ boys upset the #5 Cougars, 69-47.

In the girls game, EPPJ jumped out to an astonishing 30-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. They continued to build on their lead and a running clock started in the third quarter of play. Four Lady Wolfpack players were in double figures -- Paige Meis and Lydia Behnk each tallied 13 points and Allyson Wemhoff and Calli Krebs both added 10. EPPJ will now face #4 West Holt in Ewing on Monday at 8 p.m.

In boys action, the Wolfpack had a big second quarter, putting up 24 points to claim a 40-22 halftime lead. The EPPJ boys held their ground in the second half to pull off a huge 22-point upset victory over the Cougars. Hunter Reestman led all scorers with 26 points, followed by Kyle Schumacher with 16, Ashton Evans 8, Ashton Krebs 7, and Adam Dreger and Liam Heithoff with 6 apiece. The boys will take on #4 CWC in the second round Tuesday in Atkinson at 8 p.m.
