Cyclones Earn Sweep, Cougars Split

For the fourth time this season, the Clearwater/Orchard volleyball team swept Niobrara/Verdigre in straight sets.

"Two great wins for the girls," stated OC mentor Sierra Summers. "They looked as if they were having fun together and they played with more energy. (I am) looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season pans out."

The Lady Cyclones defeated N/V, 25-16 and 25-21.
OC started the day by rallying to defeat O’Neill St. Mary’s, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-16.

"(I was) proud of how the girls came out of the funk that they were playing in to get the win," Summers said.

The Lady Cougars also were victorious against the Lady Cardinals, 24-26, 25-18 and 25-12.
In the two combined matches, JoCee Johnston led the way with 14 kills, three aces, seven blocks and 22 digs. Katie Stearns recorded eight kills, five aces, three blocks and 17 digs, Julian Tuttle collected 42 assists, Taelyn Switzer tallied 11 kills and three aces, Avery Cheatum had seven aces and 20 digs and Maryssa Long added 15 digs.
Niobrara/Verdigre (2-18) travels to Elgin Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to face Elgin Public/Pope John.

Clearwater/Orchard (14-10) travels to Plainview Tuesday for a tri-match with O’Neill St. Mary’s and the Lady Pirates at 5 p.m.
