Bentley Takes Second At Highway 20 Invite

In one of the final tune-ups before district play begins next week, Neligh-Oakdale's Chris Bentley looked to be in top form on Monday at the Highway 20 Invite in Bassett.

The senior finished with an 88 on the day to lead all Antelope County golfers with a second-place finish. He was one of two Warriors to finish in the top 20, along with sophomore Austin Rice, who took 19th with a 96. Marty Beyer finished just outside of the top 20, shooting a 97 and taking 21st. Ashton Krebs shot a 123 on the day to round out the Neligh-Oakdale golfers. Overall, the Warriors finished in seventh with a team score of 404. 

Elgin Public/Pope John finished among the top teams at the meet, taking third with a 377. Miles Schrage led the way, tying for third with an 89. Chad Bode wasn't far behind, tying for eighth with a 91. Liam Heithoff also finished in the top 20, shooting a 94 on the day, good for a tie for 14th. Hunter Reestman and Conor Ramold rounded out the Wolfpack with scores of 103 and 119, respectively.

Clearwater-Orchard barely missed out on a top-three team finish, taking fourth with a 392. Freshman Gage Clifton led the Cyclones with a 13th-place finish, shooting a 93. Clay Thiele's 94 put him in a tie for 14th and Ryan Wilhelm's 95 slotted him at 18th. Blake Hoke shot a 110 on the day while Zane Herley finished his round at 111.
