Behnk's Big Night Not Enough To Lead EPPJ To A Win

Lydia Behnk put together arguably her best game of the year for the Elgin Public/Pope John girls on Tuesday, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to push them past an upset-minded Boyd County squad.

Behnk dropped in 14 points, pulled in 14 rebounds and had four big blocks down low for the Wolfpack. However, the Spartans came through with late free throws to take down EPPJ 39-37 in the second round of the Niobrara Valley Conference Tournament at St. Mary's.

As a team, the Wolfpack hit just 25 percent of their shots. Behnk was the only EPPJ player to reach double figures in scoring, with Calli Krebs being the second-leading scorer with six. Liz Selting was effective on the glass for the Wolfpack, pulling in 10 rebounds as EPPJ outrebounded the Spartans 37-29.
