Grove Lake Fishing Tournament At Royal Set For January 12

The Royal Fire Department will host their 31st annual Ice Fishing Tournament on Sunday, Jan. 12. Grove Lake, located 3 miles north of Royal, is the site of the tournament.

There's a $30 entry fee for each two-man team. Fishing hours will be from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. Sign-in will be at the north end of the lake.

A barbecue will take place on Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Royal Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. A calcutta will be at 7:30 p.m.

There will be cash awards and trophies for the top eight teams, as well as largest fish, oldest and youngest fisherman and youngest girl.

In case of inclement weather, the storm date is Sunday, Jan. 19.
