Von Seggern Reelected To Lutheran Translators Board

Virginia Von Seggern of Orchard was recently reelected to the Board of Directors of Lutheran Bible Translators.

This will be Von Seggern’s third term with Lutheran Bible Translators, initially being elected to the board in 2011. She is a retired registered nurse who has formerly served as national president of LWML and an elected member of the LCMS Board for World Missions.

She joins incumbents, David Garrett, Colma, California, and Paul Zilz, Columbia City, Indiana, also reelected by the general membership. At its meeting last week, the board also appointed John Rodenburg, of Springfield, Illinois. Directors will be seated at the May board meeting, coinciding with the Annual General Meeting.

“We welcome these members to the board,” stated Dr. Mike Rodewald, Lutheran Bible Translators’ CEO. “Each brings a different perspective and, together with the directors currently serving, will set the direction for this organization moving into the future, making God’s Word available in every language. The board represents the general membership, governs and oversees, while exercising good stewardship of the resources God entrusts to us.”

General members may nominate people for the board, vote for the board, and serve on the board. They also help Lutheran Bible Translators stay true to its mission by communicating their opinions to the board and participating in bylaws changes that define the organization.

Lutheran Bible Translators exists to make God’s Word accessible to those who do not yet have it in the language of their hearts. Everyone is invited to participate in this mission through prayer, membership, and financial support of your favorite missionary or the Every Language Fund, according to Dr. Rodewald.
