Village Of Orchard Receives Grant For Housing Study

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $5,250 to the Village of Orchard to complete a housing study.

The grant is part of $64,500 in 2015 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) second round open cycle Planning Category funding given to seven communities for ongoing planning efforts.

"The village is optimistic about the housing study and finding out what the options are and where to go from here," said Brenda Harrison, Village of Orchard Clerk.

Other area communities receiving the grants are Ewing, Brunswick, Oakdale and Page. They were each award $5,250 to complete housing studies.

The grants awarded to the five will be matched by CORE Development, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

The grants are part of Nebraska’s annual allocation of CDBG funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Funds are administered by DED.
