Teachers, Coach Resign From Clearwater-Orchard Schools

Five resignation letters - from four teachers - were read Monday night during the Clearwater and Orchard Joint Advisory Board meetings in Orchard.

Three teachers resigned from the district while one teacher resigned from two of her coaching duties.

Carrie Coats, Darcy Metschke and Tammy Cheatum all resigned from teaching. Cheatum, the current K-12 guidance counselor and 18-year educational professional, is running for the Nebraska Public Service Commission. 

Metschke, the fourth grade teacher in Clearwater accepted the fourth-grade position at Neligh-Oakdale after 12 years with the school. Metschke said she wanted to be in the same school system as her children, both of whom attend Neligh-Oakdale.

Coats, a high school math teacher in her first year with the district, cited wanting to relocate closer to family.
 
In addition, two letters of resignation came from Shelly Mlnarik as the head Cyclone volleyball coach and head boys basketball coach.

The resignation letters were read during the meeting but must be approved by the Unified Board. The positions will be advertised in the Omaha World-Herald.
