The Orchard Fire and Rescues, along with Orchard Public School, will be conducting a test of the severe weather warning system in Orchard Thursday at 10 a.m.
The whistle will sound as if a tornado had been spotted.
This is a good time for businesses, along with residents, to be sure their emergency plans are complete. These plans should include a best area to take cover, a small portable radio, a flashlight with good batteries, food and water and to check on elderly and disabled neighbors if they need assistance.
The signal for a a tornado or threatening weather id a steady three minute blast. After the test, the all clear signal of the same steady tine will sound for a minute.
The test will take approximately 10-20 minutes. The test will not be done if threatening weather is in the area.
