Practice Schedules Released For O-C, Ewing Sports Practices

The practice schedules have been announced for Clearwater-Orchard high school sports and the junior high co-op with Ewing.

According to Superintendent Dale Martin, “Much thought was put into this plan as we all are fully aware of the community concerns that have been expressed. We tried to be sensitive to the needs and desires of all student-athletes and their parents as we constructed this plan. While I’m sure it is not a perfect plan and it may need to be tweaked from time to time, I would ask that we all make the legitimate attempt to work together to make this successful. It is easy to be distrustful and to feel that you or your child is being slighted in some way. Realize that to make things work between two or even three communities, a little give and take is necessary to make all feel that their interests and concerns are being recognized and addressed.”

At the high school level, preseason conditioning will be in Orchard for football and volleyball. After school starts, practices will be at the site of the high school unless there was a home game at the other site that week. Basketball is set up with preseason conditioning being split between Clearwater and Orchard.

In junior high, OC students will travel to Ewing for practices at times because of the co-op. The vast majority of their practices, however, will be at the Orchard site.

“This joint effort will hopefully work well and may possibly lead to more opportunities to work together down the road,” Martin said.
