OC Students Raise Over $7,500 For CloseUp Trip

16 students from the junior classes at Clearwater and Orchard held their annual work-a-day for pay auction to raise money for their CloseUp trip.

Students participating in the CloseUp trip will have the opportunity to visit several historical places and learn more about the United State government.

In a previous interview, CloseUp sponsor Dan Roeber said, “The Close-Up program has given each of us an opportunity to have an insight into the educational points of view in Washington D.C. and how many of these well-known sites reflect on the impact of many on our nation.”

Community members, businesses, and parents had the opportunity to bid on individuals students as well as groups with the highest bidder getting an eight-hour day of work from the students. All donations went to the trip in April of their senior year.

Students participating in the CloseUp auction were Zach King, Austin Pokorny, Codey Snider, Taylor Sanne, Jake Long, Julia Thiele, Katie Steans, Clay Thiele, Donnie Nolze, Erin Schwager, Ryan Wilhelm, JoCee Johnston, Holly Schacht, Julian Tuttle, Nalleli Zermeno and Tommie Peed.

Overall, the students raised over $7,500 thanks to the support from the communities.
