Moose Sighting: Orchard Couple Get Within 10 Yards

Orchard has turned into a zoo this morning as people are scrambling to catch a glimpse of a moose traipsing the area. 

Steve and Lynae Stelling managed to get within 10 yards of the moose this morning on their property. Steve Stelling said they were 2 miles south and 3/4 miles west of Orchard when they spotted the moose.

Stelling said their son Josh called to tell them the moose was near their home. They grabbed their camera and hid near the cedar trees, and the moose came straight toward them.

"It was a little too close for comfort," Stelling said. 

Stelling, who stands 5-9, said the moose's back was taller than he was.

"I didn't know how large a moose is until this morning," he said.

Stelling said he was close enough to see the steam coming from the animal's nose as it ran by. He said it appeared to want to travel southwest, but the traffic was hindering its path.
