![]() Relief. That's a word Anita Makovicka used several times in describing how she feels to know her daughter is safe after being missing for more than a week. "I'm relieved, just so glad to know she's safe. It was really a scary thing," Makovicka told the Antelope County News on Thursday morning. Makovicka has spoken to her 31-year-old daughter several times in the last 12 hours. She is currently in Iowa City, Iowa, where she will remain. Makovicka said she can go see her daughter. When asked if Amanda knew people were looking for her, Makovicka said, "She didn't say that she saw something about people looking, but I think in her mind she knew people were looking for her - but not in the scope of the search." Makovicka said she heard various rumors during the last several days about her daughter being found in nearby places. She said that frustrated her because she wanted people to keep looking for Amanda and not listen to the rumors. "I really want to thank the sheriff's offices, county attorney in O'Neill, Civil Air Patrol, fire departments, everybody searching and everybody who called or came to the prayer vigil because it really helps to know you have that many people stepping up to help," Makovicka said.
