Kids Pie Lifeguards, Jump Into Pool Games

Between hanging out in the pool and splashing into competitions at the Orchard Pool, kids took tremendous delight in pieing lifeguards in the face.

During the second day of “Seasons in the Sun” Orchard Celebration on Saturday, people went to the pool to enjoy a free swim and party from 1-5 p.m. 

When the hourly pool break hit, children crowded to buy pies for $2 a piece to smash and thoroughly rub into the lifeguard of their choosing’s face. 

Lifeguards Alyx Siems, Holly Schacht and Kaci Schacht and pool manager Anita Tabbert sat in chairs and braved the creamy treats.  

After that, youth lined up and competed in a water balloon toss. Jaykwon Petite and Kylan Barlow kept their water balloon in play for the longest in the first round, and Nick Tarney and Kinzly Macke won the second round. 

Following, they split up for biggest and smallest splash competitions at the shallow and deep ends of the pool. 

The biggest splash winner for the shallow end was Parker Watson. Journey Shaver produced the smallest splash. 

In the deep end, Jason Shaver created the biggest splash, while Lakin Cleveland secured a win for the smallest splash. 

Other contests included the coolest trick, hokey pokey, bucket races, chicken races, penny toss, slide races and the best cannon ball and pencil jumps. 

Prizes for winners were provided by the pool. 

Orchard Young Men’s Club also gave out free giant popsicles.
