Where did you graduate from high school? What year? Wynot High School, 2010

What college did you attend? (years & degree) Wayne State College, Elementary Education and Coaching Endorsement 2010-2014, Peru State College (Master's degree) Curriculum and Instruction 2015-2016

What places have you taught? I completed my student teaching in Homer. Orchard is my first official teaching gig. I absolutely LOVE the school and community that I have been welcomed into with open arms!

How many years have you taught? This is my fourth year.

What subject/class do you teach? I teach 3rd grade.

What is your favorite part of teaching? I love the "aha" moments. When you see a student struggling with a concept or having a hard time in a certain subject and they finally catch on it is wonderful. It is the most amazing feeling in the world being able to see that light bulb light up in their head and knowing that you played a part in their success.

What are most excited about for 2017-18 school year? I am excited to be able to get to know another set of students. Every year, your classroom becomes a little "family" and it is a great thing to be a part of. I love getting to know their personalities and being able to help them grow in all aspects of life. It is exciting to see how much they mature in a single school year.

Do you have any extracurricular activities you are in charge of? I am entering my 2nd year as the Head Girls Basketball coach. I also coach Jr High Track in the spring.

What are your classroom goals for the year? I want to focus on collaboration this year, whether it be with another teacher or another class. I am hoping to offer opportunities for my students to work with and learn from older students and work with their peers often.

What brought you to teach here? In all honesty, one Sunday during my senior year of college I was sending out resumes like a mad woman. As I was doing a last glance at the job openings I saw that there was an opening in Orchard. I thought, I know where that is....why not?! Little did I know, sending that last minute application on a whim would lead to one of the greatest adventures I've been on.

Can you tell us a little bit about your family? I am the youngest of four children. My parents still live in the house I grew up in in Bow Valley. I am the lucky aunt of three nephews and one niece.

What are your hobbies? I love spending time with my family and friends. They are very important to me. I also enjoy just about anything dealing with sports, and reading a book (when I have time :)).
