OYMC Continue Preparations For Udder Place Demolition

The Orchard Young Men’s Club has only been an official non-profit for a few months, but it already has made a large impact on the community. The next project, demolition of the Udder place and another building behind it.

The club purchased the property last year and according to club treasurer Nate Schwager, the hope is to start demolition within the next two weeks.

After demolition, the club plans on possibly building a community center on site, if it can raise the funds to do so.

As a non-profit, the club can accept tax deductible donations towards the project, and the Bank of Orchard already cut a hefty $20,000 check to the club shortly after Christmas.

The club said shortly after receiving the donation that it hopes the donation will encourage other businesses and families to offer a monetary donation to the community cause.

“It’s going to take a lot of money to tear (the Udder Place) down,” president Tate Heiss said. “And then hopefully to put something back up.”
