Ducks Swim Their Way Across Orchard Pool In Duck Races

Three hundred ducks slowly but surely floated their way down the Orchard Pool in the first day of the "Seasons in the Sun" Orchard Celebration on Friday at 5 p.m. 

Ducks were released in the middle of the pool and Landon Nelson, Jason Shaver and Wyatt Shabram helped splash and guide the ducks to the end of the pool. 

The first duck to reach the finish belonged to John Nelson of Orchard, who won a $100 prize.

The second one to arrive belonged to Sally Finch of Royal, who won a $75 prize. The third-place duck and prize of $50 went to Mary Williby of Royal. Nelson lucked out again with another one of his lucky ducks landing a fourth-place finish, earning him $25. 

Ducks were sold for $3 a piece. Money raised from the duck races went to fundraising for Orchard baseball and softball programs.
