Dempster Submits Resignation After 26 Years

After 26 years of service to Orchard Public School, secretary Cheryl Dempster placed her letter of resignation.

During the February Orchard Advisory Board meeting, Principal Cathy Cooper brought to the board Dempster’s letter notifying administration, and both the Orchard and Unified boards of her resignation.

Within the letter, Dempster stated, “After much thought and prayer, I have decided it is time for me to retire. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support, understanding, and cooperation throughout my time here. It has been a wonderful 26 years working with this faculty and staff  and all of the students here at Orchard Public School. The relationships I have formed over the years will never be forgotten.”

Dempster will step down from her position on June 1, after training the new employee. The acceptance of resignation is pending until the Unified Board meeting set to be held on Monday, February 12.

After acceptance, the school will begin to advertise and begin interviews immediately. The new position will begin training in May to ensure the role is taken over properly.

The Orchard School Board members said they will miss Dempster’s hard work and wished her the best in her retirement.
