![]() The 2015 Orchard AAU Powerlifting Meet was held Saturday with more than 100 lifters representing 22 communities and teams from around the state. Cyclone Coach Jeff Shabram said lifters even traveled from as far away as Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Twenty-one Clearwater-Orchard Cyclone powerlifters competed in this year’s AAU Championships. "These 21 lifters had an outstanding day for the home crowd setting numerous personal bests, school records and STATE records," Shabram said. "Many of the other lifters set state and American records Saturday as well. As of Monday, April 13, we know that our very own Kaci Schacht and Spencer Volden set state records for their weight classes in either the squat, bench press and/or deadlift. Other records were in the sights of some O-C lifters, but we are waiting for the updated record list on aau-ne.com. After the busy day of lifting was finished, the O-C boys and co-ed teams were the 2015 Nebraska AAU champions and the O-C girls team was the runner-up!" The top 10 co-ed powerlifting teams were as follows: 1st place Clearwater-Orchard (100 points); 2nd Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinhauer (85); 3rd Columbus (55); 4th Douglas County West (52); 5th Boyd County (49); 6th Lexington (35); 7th Concordia HS-Omaha; 8th Southside Club-Lincoln; 9th Omaha Club; 10th West Holt. The top 3 boys teams… 1st place Clearwater-Orchard (80 points); 2nd HTRS (44); 3rd Wheeler Central (21). In the girls team race… 1st HTRS (59 points) and runner up Clearwater-Orchard (46 points) Clearwater-Orchard had 14 individual AAU champions: Wyatt Shabram 66 lb youth (raw) class, Gunnar Shabram 114 lb youth (raw) class, Eli Macke 105 lb youth (raw) class, Seth Lampert 132 lb (raw) class, Spencer Volden 148 lb (raw) class, Justin Allemang 148 lb (equipped) class, Ira Lampert 165 lb youth (raw) class, Zach King 181 lb youth (raw) class, Lane Woslager 181 lb (equipped) class, Jeff Shabram 242 lb open (raw) class, Heaven Smith 123 lb (raw) class, Faith Woslager 132 lb (equipped) class, Kaci Schacht 198 lb (raw) class, and JoBeth Humphries 198+ lb (equipped) class. Arnulfo Salas won the silver medal in the 148 lb (raw) class. Bronze medalists were Shane Van Ostrand 242 lb (raw) class and Jaiden Switzer 132 lb (raw) class. Other medalists were Jacob Long 7th in the 165 lb (raw) class, Brenden Cleveland 4th in the 181 lb (raw) class, Zane Herley 6th in the 242 lb (raw) class, and Vanessa Carpenter 5th in the 148 lb (raw) class. Spencer Volden, Justin Allemang, Lane Woslager, Faith Woslager, and Kaci Schacht also earned additional medals & trophies in other contests & categories. "It was an impressive display of power Saturday as many of the Cyclone lifters increased totals and bumped up to stronger lifting clubs!" Shabram said. "This impressive performance closed out the 2015 powerlifting season. Nice job and keep up the good work kids!" Saturday was an overall amazing display of power for many of the competitors. The heaviest total this year was lifted again by Nate Redwing of Omaha with 1656 pounds. "This meet would not have happened had it not been for the help of many volunteers from our community," Shabram said.
