Cyclones Compete At NVC Golf Tourney In Bassett

The Cyclones competed at the Niobrara Valley Conference Tournament in Bassett, finishing seventh as a team.

Peyton Clifton led Clearwater-Orchard with a 110 while Jacob Twibell shot a 113. Blake Holt carded a 114, and Travis Rudloff had a 116. Grady Bellingtier shot a 131. 

West Holt claimed seven of the top eight places, including one JV finisher, to dominate the meet. Bryce Kerkman took the individual title with a 77.

In team scores, West Holt won with a 318 while Neligh-Oakdale was second with a 347. Clearwater-Orchard shot a 453 for seventh place. 

Last week was a busy week for the Cyclone Golf Team as they battled rain and wind to get in two meets.  At Creighton the team was able to test themselves on a course that had narrow fairway, tough greens, and plenty of water. Freshman Clay Thiele shot the team best score followed by Ryan Wilhelm and Travis Rudloff.   Peyton Clifton and Grady Bellingtier were the other two in the top five.

At Osmond,  Ryan Wilhelm won the team’s first medal of the year with his 19th place finish on a day when the wind howled.  Ryan shot 97 for the day.  The varsity for the meet were Wilhelm, Soto, Blake Hoke, Sean Krebs and Travis Rudloff.
